Project Description:
We built this handicap ramp access for a local small business in North Pole, AK. Previously, they had no ADA access and called us to see if we could help them with that. We laid a concrete pad and then built a custom ramp onto it for easier wheelchair access.

Project Details:
- Concrete: The concrete slab was poured at a thickness of 4″. We laid rebar and re-mesh inside the slab for added strength, even though it is not a structural slab.
- Ramp Frame: The ramp stringers were cut using 2″ x 8″ pressure treated lumber. They were treated on the bottom cuts with end-cut solution to prevent rot.
- Treads and Railing: The ramp treads and handrail were built with Dry Deck (pressure treated) lumber. The final ramp tread had to be cut as a wedge so a wheelchair could easily roll onto it.
