Project Description:

We built this walk-in custom shower for a customer in North Pole, AK. Their old shower was only 5 years old and was leaking into the floor below, causing damage. We completely tore out the old shower and installed an entirely new Schluter shower system with 12″ x 24″ porcelain wall tiles.

Project Details:

• Tile Backerboard: 1/2″ Durock Cement Board was installed on the framing and the seams were taped and coated with thinset morter.
• Shower Waterproofing System: We installed a Schluter Shower System as the waterproofing system. This includes a pre-sloped shower pan and Schluter Kerdi membrane on the walls. We also installed a recessed Schluter shower niche, as part of the waterproofing system.
• Floor Tile: 12″ x 12″ Mosaic Floor Tiles. The floor tiles were cut and fitted to be centered with the shower drain.
• Wall Tile and Finishes: 12″ x 24″ Porcelain Wall Tiles with (2) Schluter Stainless Steel shelves. We used Schluter Metal trim to cap the vertical tile edges and the shower curb. For the shower niche, we installed a custom piece of black quartz to accent with the tile and for a more custom look.
